children´s day celebration

This past Saturday we celebrated Children´s Day with the community of faith in La Limonada. In place of our regular service in the Mandarina school we took church to the streets and invited the whole community to take part. The main festivities involved clowns and piñatas as well as something for everyone to eat. Almost 200 kids came along with their parents and other adults from the community. We had a bunch of help from members of the other church Shorty pastors who came as clowns and helped pass out bags of candy to the kids. It was a great chance to get more involved in the community and do something special for the kids.

faith community

In August of 2009 a group of people gathered with the common vision to begin a worshiping community in La Limonada. The people of La Limonada are thirsty for a genuine community of faith but are resistant to the idea of church. We want to live out the gospel in the community and bring hope to the people of La Limonada. God is at work bringing a team of people together to make this happen. Tita has already been involved in La Limonada for over 10 years ministering to the people there and has begun 2 schools for the children. The vision began with her. Shorty is a local pastor who has been involved in the community the past 5 months building relationships and praying for God’s direction. The two of them are working together, along with others, to establish a worshiping, missional community. There is already a vibrant faith community with the gospel being lived out in the schools, on the streets, and in people’s homes. The next step is to begin holding “grupos de vida” (life groups) in homes throughout the community to provide opportunities for people to gather together for worship, fellowship, testimonies, and sharing from God’s Word.
